Surrendering a pet or stray

We ask that everyone please call the SPCA at (803)-773-9292 if you plan to surrender an animal to make sure that we have space. Thank you for your cooperation!

Our Sumter community is urged to bring unwanted, abandoned, abused or stray animals to the shelter. Financial contributions are requested from individuals who bring the animals to the shelter to help defray operational expenses.
Adult cats: $20 each
Adult dogs: $20 each
Kittens: $10 each
Puppies: $10 each
This fee goes towards vaccines, deworming, food and care while they are in our shelter.

Pet Cremations

Pets are cremated one at a time to insure the proper return of your pet's remains. After this process is complete, the remains are carefully placed in a velvet bag along with a pawprint taken from your pet prior to cremation. We have urns in a variety of styles, shapes, sizes, materials and prices available in our gift shop.

This type of cremation is a dignified and economical alternative to private cremation and is offered as another humane means of final disposition. Pets are cremated in groups; therefore, the individual remains cannot be returned to you.
We are committed to providing you compassionate and professional assistance during this very difficult and emotional time. We want to help ease your pain, give you some peace of mind, and try to make this traumatic ordeal a little easier for you.

Pets up to 50 lbs.: $150.00
Pets 51 lbs. and over: $200.00
Group or Communal Cremations:
Pets up to 50 lbs.: $50
Pets 51 lbs. and over: $100
